Andy Murray becomes a dad
Andy Murray can add becoming a father to his long list of on court achievements. The Scot who married his longterm girlfriend Kim Sears in Dunblane last April made the announcement that they were expecting a baby in the summer. Although the exact time at which Sears was due was always kept a secret it was always thought to be around the end of January. Kim is said to have given birth to a baby girl on Sunday night past with no further details available at present.
Australian Open Bid
Andy Murray was quoted in the media as saying that he would leave the Australian Open if Kim went into labour so he could be with her. Thankfully Kim did not go into labour during the Aussie Open fortnight. Andy Murray could be forgiven for being slightly off his game in the final as no doubt his head was elsewhere. At the prizegiving ceremony Andy said he was going to take the next plane out of Melbourne to get home as quick as possible.
Murray will no doubt take some time off ahead of his next commitment in the Davis Cup at the start of March to spend some quality time with mother and baby. No doubt Andy will have many a sleepless night ahead.
Granny Judy
Judy Murray Britain’s most famous tennis mum also becomes a granny for the very first time. I wonder will granny take Baby Murray in her pram to the courts? Doubles specialist brother Jamie Murray becomes an uncle for the first time too. Ana Ivanovic coach Nigel Sears also becomes a grandfather. There can be no doubt that Baby Murray will have an incredible tennis sporting pedigree!
Wimbledon Champion
I wonder will the daughter of Wimbledon Champion will follow in her fathers footsteps into the game of tennis? It really would be a fantastic story if Baby Murray could become a professional player and win Wimbledon just like papa.
