Delpo comeback at Delray

Argentine Giant Juan Martin Del Potro makes his comeback from over a year out with a wrist injury this week at Delray Beach Florida. The US Open winner has struggled for form and consistency since his breakout year in 2009 and but for a bronze medal in the 2012 Olympics has failed to fulfil his potential or maintain his ranking.

Juan Martin has suffered countless long term injuries in his career which have seen him beat the top 4 in their prime. The talent has always been there but the wrist injuries are so difficult to heal that DelPo has never really had a sustained period on tour. His current injury is his left wrist which caused him enormous pain hitting his double handed backhand.

Rotterdam & Federers’ knee
Elsewhere this week the ABN AMRO Masters in Rotterdam is headlined by Richard Gasquet following high profile pull outs by Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka. The ATP 500 Indoor event always proves an entertaining contest on the medium fast green courts of the Rotterdam arena. Federer announced last week that he had undergone surgery on the meniscus of his knee following an accident with his kids in a Melbourne Park during the Australian Open. The great man will miss both Rotterdam and Dubai events in which he has great records at and hopes to be back for Indian Wells in March.

Rafael Nadal has returned to the clay to find some form ahead of the March US hardcourt swing. The Spaniard is top seed and big favourite to lift his first title of the season in Argentina in an event of clay court specialists. He is scheduled to play in Brazil next week too.
