Today we will continue with our top 10 bowling balls since 2005. This took some time, research, and discussion amongst many of our Pro Shop professionals, but, alas, we came to a reasonable and, in my opinion, pretty solid, top 10 list.
Before we get started, let’s recap:
10) Blue/Onyx Vibe
9) Ebonite Mission
8) Brunswick Vapor Zone
7) Storm Marvel Pearl
6) Storm IQ Tour Solid
Now let’s get started with today’s list:
5) Ebonite The One; released 2005
Wrapped in one of the greatest coverstocks ever produced, the GB 10.7, The One offered a ton of motion and performance to bowlers. I remember as a kid going to watch local leagues and tournaments and you couldn’t walk past a lane that didn’t have at least one The One on the rack.
4) Storm Virtual Gravity; released 2008
t’s blue, orange, and black swirl pattern was recognizable from 10 lanes away. To this day, I’m not sure I’ve ever personally had more success with a high end asymmetric ball than I had with this one. This ball was special.
3) Hammer Black Widow; released 2006
variety of conditions. Its performance, coupled with its bad ass name and iconic spider logo, produced one of the most legendary product lines in the history of our sport.
2) Ebonite Gamebreaker; released 2007
One of the most versatile bowling ball of all-time. Period. In my opinion, the most impressive benchmark bowling ball I have ever owned. I used this ball on everything from 45ft to 35ft, and everything in between. As I said with The One, in my opinion, this is one of the most successful coverstocks ever produced, and this further validates that.
1) Storm Hyroad; released 2008
Is there really any surprise here? There is a reason this ball has been out as long as it has been. Historically, it’s one of the most significant bowling balls of all-time. For my money, I’m willing to bet it has more television appearances than any other bowling ball in the history of the sport. To this day, it remains one of the very best options later on in blocks.
Let’s hear what you guys have to say! In the comments below, tell us your top 10 modern bowling balls! This can be based on the ball’s universal success, or just your own personal favorites. Either way, we’d love to hear from you!
