#FBF The Best Three Bowlers You Have Ever Seen

For this week’s Flashback Friday article, I decided to do some hands-on, first-hand research. I wanted to do an article on some of the best bowlers ever — the three best, to be precise. But I didn’t just want to give you all some baseless opinion piece with me just telling you why bowler X, Y, and Z are the best ever. That wouldn’t carry much weight, would it?

So, instead, I decided to take advantage of my week in Las Vegas at Bowl Expo and ask some industry headliners their opinion. However, for the sake of this argument, though, I am not mentioning names, as I wouldn’t want to offend anyone or have anyone’s opinions judged.

My question was a simple one: “who are the three best bowlers you have ever seen?” Which I thought was a pretty simple, straight forward question, but the first person I asked responded with “in terms of victories or just the ‘best BOWLER’ I have seen?”

That intrigued me, honestly. So I went with it. I said just tell me the three best bowlers, not necessarily meaning victories, you’ve ever seen — after all, we have all seen the Walter, Earl, Pete, Norm debate a hundred times; it gets old.

So, below are the names I heard the most often, as well as some quick-quotes that I heard about them.

Pete Weber: “This is an easy one; he is the best bowler ever.” “Nobody has ever been as physically gifted or impressive. No one.” “Pete is the best bowler of all-time. No disrespect to anyone else, but he is.”

Chris Barnes: “I haven’t ever seen a more physically textbook player. Maybe Ozio, but Ozio did less with it. So it is hard to not give the edge to Chris.” “Chris was the best bowler in the world for a very large window in his prime, and all of his competitors knew it.” “If he came out like 18-20 the way the kids are nowadays, he’d have 5-10 more titles.”

Jason Belmonte: “What this guy is doing right now might be the single best stretch of bowling I have ever witnessed — and I witnessed Walter and Pete’s prime first hand.” “Belmo has to be on that list. Has to be.” “People (purists) aren’t going to like this, but Belmo is on the very short list.” “Belmo.”

Norm Duke: “I have never seen a better ‘bowler’ than Norm Duke.” “For me, Norm defines what a bowler is.” “I don’t know if he’s the best ever, but he’s in my top three.” “The most versatile player to ever throw a ball.”

Mark Roth: “He defined an entire era of bowling. Not dissimilar to what Jason is doing now.” “People just talked about his power — and it was impressive — but this guy didn’t miss spares and he was as mentally gritty as anyone that ever competed on tour.”

Marshall Holman: “Never seen a guy that wanted to win more than Marshall. And I don’t know if I ever will.” “Ultimate competitor.” “Deserves to be talked about in this conversation more often.”

Obviously I heard the names of Walter Ray Williams Jr. and Earl Anthony, as well, but far less than I thought I would. So I finally started asking why?

“It isn’t anything personal, I just am not as physically in awe of them the way I was the others I named.” “They’re the two most-winningest players ever. They’re in the best of all-time discussion. I just thought this list was a little different and I wanted to take a different approach.” “They’re the GOATs.”

So, as you can see, no one was trying to discredit them or their body of work. They almost all, universally, consider them the GOATs — or on that short list — but they all took a different approach, which is what I wanted. And I am personally very, very happy with how this list turned out, because it wasn’t cookie cutter and it wasn’t generic. These guys took their time and really thought about it and gave some real thought to it. I appreciate all of these guy’s efforts, and I hope you do, too.

Simple Care Tips for the Bathroom Sink

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

At the end of a long day, all we want to do is relax in our comfort zone. However, a home with a dingy bathroom isn’t exactly what we have in mind when we think of comfort, right? Have a pristine, hotel-like bathroom by practicing these tips:

Photo by Dan Watson on Unsplash

Keep your sink from getting scratched
Avoid abrasive cleaners, which can scratch your sink. Those scratches become magnets for grease, soap scum and dirt. Scrubbing the sink with a solution of 1 tablespoon ammonia to 1 gallon of water will dissolve them and bring back your sink’s shine. A solution of 1 teaspoon of trisodium phosphate to a gallon of water effectively removes grease and soap scum build up as well. Also known as TSP, trisodium phosphate, a degreasing agent, can be found at most hardware stores in white powder form. Source: HomeGuides.SFGate

Maintain a clean sink
Regularly wash your sink with soap and water. You can prevent dirt and stains from building up in the first place by gently washing your sink after every use. Use a little dish soap and a soft, non-abrasive sponge, and rinse thoroughly with clean water.  Source: WikiHow

Remove stains right away
De-stain surfaces with lemon juice. We’ve got a sure remedy for stained sinks: Erase those spots with a paste made of one-half cup of powdered borax and the juice of one-half lemon. Dab a sponge in the mixture, rub, and rinse with running water—it’ll work like a charm whether your sink is made of porcelain enamel, stainless steel, or any other material.

Get rid of mineral deposits
Use vinegar on your lime. The white spots that you have so much trouble cleaning off the faucets are lime deposits from mineral-rich hard water. They’re very easy to remove with a secret ingredient that’s already in your pantry: vinegar. Soak a paper towel in vinegar, and wrap the towel around the spotted area. Wait 10 minutes and then buff with a dry paper towel. This works well on all fixtures except brass or colored fixtures; using vinegar on these surfaces may discolor them. Source: RD

Our selection of trendy ceramic sinks will surely fit your budget and needs. Take a look and call us if you need any assistance.

Cleaning Tips for Stubborn Toilet Stains

Content originally published and Shared from http://perfectbath.com

Are you finding it difficult to remove ring stains in your toilet? With the following ingredients, you’ll have plenty of effective solutions to choose from.

Coca-Cola
Get rid of stubborn toilet bowl stains with a 12-ounce can of Coca-Cola. Pour the full can around the rim of your toilet so it coats the toilet bowl and let the soda sit for an hour. The acid in the Coca-Cola will break down the stains. After an hour, scrub the bowl with a toilet brush and flush. Source: BrightNest

Vinegar
Most people reach for bleach to obliterate toilet germs and stains. However, Green living expert Mark Lallanilla says that plain old white vinegar is not only an effective cleaner, but also safer than chlorine bleach. To eliminate hard water stains, soak toilet paper in vinegar and place directly on top of the stain. Let the vinegar-soaked paper sit overnight. The next morning, flush to rinse and the stains should be gone.

Lallanilla says that full-strength vinegar also works great on grout and caulk. Use a spray bottle to saturate the area and let it soak in for at least an hour before rinsing. Source: TheSpruce

Water softener
Often times stubborn toilet bowl rings are directly the result of hard water deposits. While you can always take some time to clean the ring after it appears, it is usually better to stop the problem from ever forming in the first place. If you can afford to do it, install a water softener in your home and have it maintained properly. This should reduce a large number of water related problems not just in the bathroom, but throughout the rest of the house as well. Source: Cleaning.Tips

Borax powder
Borax powder is a very powerful cleaning agent that’s not found in a supermarket, but in a hardware store. Shut the water supply to the toilet tank and empty the bowl by flushing it once. Sprinkle the powder directly on the stains and rub them with a toilet brush. After scrubbing, let the powder sit for thirty minutes. Then reconnect the water supply to the tank and flush the toilet. USBC Weight Hole New Rule Changes

Over the last week or so, I have been in Vegas for Bowl Expo. And we had a blast. But, while I was gone — the day I left, actually — USBC hit us with another change, and since I have been so hard on them in the past about some of their decisions, this time around, I wanted to commend them.

The “this or that” rule, as I have heard it called several times in the past week, is basically an update to the incoming weight hole rules of 2020. And what the rule basically says is, starting after this year’s Open Championships, you are now allowed to have 3 oz of side (this) or a weight hole with less than 1 oz of side (that).

And I love it. It gives people that already have balls with weight holes the ability to throw them for a couple of years without having to plug them, but it also now allows bowlers buying new balls to start drilling balls without holes, so that they don’t have to worry about it in 2020.

Like we said in the first couple articles about the initial rule change, static weights do not matter. I promise. It has been studied and researched by people for smarter than you and I, and they have all come to the same conclusions.

So, given that, I thought it was odd that they were waiting so long to institute the change to begin with, personally.

I understand that it gave pro shops and bowlers time to acclimate themselves to the change, but it was a bit excessive; it just seemed like too long.

But this, on the other hand, is perfect. And I don’t use that word lightly. This is, without a doubt, the absolute perfect implementation of this rule. It doesn’t mandate anything, and it gives shops and bowlers options and time before having to fully adopt the rule change.

Now, I can personally tell you I already have several customers that have decided to adopt the change after Nationals this year. They just want to go ahead and get it moving. And that is fine. I also have other customers that are completely on the other side of the fence, and have decided to take advantage of weight holes and core manipulation for as long as they can.

And, honestly, I totally get both sides. Personally? I am in the middle. For the most part, I probably wont use holes often going forward, but, when it is necessary, I will absolutely use one if I feel the need to manipulate the numbers a bit. Will that be often? Probably not, but I like the options it gives me, at least in the immediate future.

So what do you guys think? I know the initial ruling had a lot of strong opinions — regardless of what side of the argument you were on. So where do you stand now? Is this a good compromise? Do you wish something else was done? If so, what would your solution be? Tell us in the comments section below!
