As always, the two-handed game seems to be a topic of discussion — shocking, I know.
At the US Open, Joe Paluszek’s jersey got quite a bit of attention. On his jersey, “Joey Pants” had a bowler’s silhouette that resembled a two-handed bowler with a crutch as one of his arms.
This obviously is making the argument that the two-handed style is essentially a crutch for those that can’t bowl effectively one-handed.
That, coupled with the recent success of Jesper Svennson and Jason Belmonte at the World Series of Bowling, has gotten a lot of people talking — even more so than before.
I for one am shocked that we’re now this far into the two-handed era and we’re still talking about this. Why does it have to be good or bad for the sport? Why must it be so black and white?
Why can’t it simply be just another part of the sport?
After all, it’s pretty evident that it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. So why continue to complain about it? What good can come of it? To those that continue to make it an issue, what outcome are you hoping for?
Because I just don’t get it. It isn’t going to be banned. And no one is going to change the way they bowl because of you or the way you feel. So why let it bother you?
I’m not necessarily for it or against it, personally. Bowling is bowling, at the end of the day. It doesn’t bother me if people bowl left-handed, right-handed, or two-handed. It just doesn’t matter to me. It just doesn’t effect me personally.
Belmo isn’t the best bowler in the world right now because he’s two-handed. He’s the best bowler in the world right now because he’s bowling better than every other bowler in the world.
And for those that think it’s so easy and so advantageous, why aren’t you doing it? Is it that you can’t? Maybe it isn’t that easy, after all.
Are there a lot of two-handers bowling well and having success right now? Sure. But for every one great two-hander, there are a TON of really, really bad ones.
I just wish people would quit the whining and complaining and move past it. All these years of crying about the state of the two-handed game and what has it gotten you? What has changed? Absolutely nothing.
